Breakfast for me is that all important first meal that dictates how the rest of the day will go. It sets me up for that lazy weekend, hang out at home kind of day, or that jam-packed, up really early and out the door kind of day. And some days that calls for tall, syrup dripping heaps of waffles and some days it calls for comfort food homemade bread and blueberry muffins. Some days call for cake and some days it just calls for green smoothies. Those nutrient packed, feel the goodness pulsing through your veins kind of green smoothies.
I used to make smoothies by just throwing in whatever fruit I had on hand, adding some greens and coconut water and letting the blender do its thing. There were a lot of tasty successes. And a lot of “oh this smoothie makes me kind of sad fails.” Does that ever happen to you? Your expectations for a tasty, nutritious green smoothie are so high that when it tastes bad, it just makes you kind of sad. Been there. And now my favourite thing is smoothie flavours. Things like pumpkin pie, chocolate cherry, tropical treasure and of course this green matcha vanilla smoothie. Because nobody likes a bad smoothie. And with this one, you can be sure it won’t even be a worry. If it’s a smoothie kind of day, I’ve got you covered.
Matcha Pear Green Smoothie
Matcha and vanilla come together to create this creamy, nutrient packed smoothie which is great for post-workout or for a healthy breakfast!
- 1/2 pear
- 1 banana, frozen
- 1 stalk celery
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 tsp matcha
- 1 tsp maca
- 2 tbsp greens powder
- 1 tsp bee pollen
- 1/2 scoop Vega Vanilla Protein Powder
- 1/2 cup coconut water
Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add more coconut water or milk of your choice if it seems too thick. Feel free to omit the bee pollen, maca and greens powder if you don’t have any, or add any other additional superfoods!
