Sometimes it’s just that you need chocolate. Not this one square and I’m satisfied kind of deal, but a proper dose of long-lasting chocolate that well and truly satisfies that deep inner chocolate desire. The desire that you try to suppress with the one square of dark chocolate, or satisfy with the once daily selection, but that really is just building up and building up and in desperate need of being properly fixed up.
And it’s not that you want to satisfy it with a big piece of sugary chocolate cake, or a milk chocolate bar made with processed ingredients and heaps of refined sugar. Somewhere along the way, we need to eliminate the assumption that chocolate is bad, or can’t be good.
It’s only because we have altered chocolate so much from its natural form that it has become bad. If we go back to basics, to the root ingredients, to the plant where we get chocolate, it is indeed just a part of a plant. Eat more plants.
Proper, quality chocolate is made from cacao, which is ground up cacao beans from the cacao tree. The trees, found in Central and South America produce large cacao pods as the fruiting body of the tree, which are then harvested, fermented and dried before being ground into a fine powder, or being used to extract cacao butter.
As a plant, cacao is rich in magnesium and high in antioxidants. And when you leave it minimally processed and just enjoy it as a ground up plant, you get to properly satisfy your chocolate craving with healthy chocolate solutions that are simultaneously helping boost your adrenal system, reduce stress and improve muscle function. Yes, all from chocolate.
There may not be much red in these photos, but as we celebrate Valentine’s day, and you seek to satisfy your deepest chocolate cravings, why not just eat the chocolate plant?
