Is it too early for Easter? Too early to start thinking about treats to make and chocolate to have and cute easter eggs and delicious easter desserts? Is it too early to start coming up with fun ways to make festive snacks and crowd pleasing dishes, and most of all, to start thinking of all the different ways one can incorporate chocolate into everything?
If you cruise through any grocery store, the shelves are already lined with Cadbury eggs and cream eggs, Lindt bunnies and bags of mini eggs. I’m not one to start holiday treat making too early, and if you asked me honestly, I may be inclined to say, I’m a little bit premature with launching into easter treats already.
But here’s the thing. For each of the past few holidays, like Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day and even Christmas, I’ve really been behind the times. I’ve started to formulate my ideas too late, or think of things to make too late, or have forgotten about the holiday altogether. And while I may not do anything else on a day like St. Patrick’s Day, I do love making fun and festive food for any reason, or day or name of day at all.
So with Easter, I’m not going to be late. I’m not going to miss out, or scramble to get something together, or worse yet, lose all motivation to make it happen at all, because I feel like it is not worth it and I’ve missed the holiday treat making boat. This Easter I am starting almost a month in advance to create and think about and experiment with fun festive desserts and dishes.
They may all end up being sweet or dessert related, maximizing the colorfulness of Easter with the pinks and yellows and blues. Or more likely, they may all be chocolate driven – chocolate inside, chocolate outside, chocolate dipped, or chocolate drizzled. But it will be dark chocolate. And that’s always okay.
Whether you are ready for Easter, think it’s silly that the stores are filled with eggs and bunnies and mini eggs, or have already started your own Easter creations, this recipe is the first of the creating around here. Save it for later, or make it tonight, but regardless, don’t miss out on your Easter treat making opportunities. It’s less than a month away you know!
